“The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world“
Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers out here!!

On Mother’s Day today, lets pause for a moment and ponder on the fact that is there anything more satisfying, beautiful, and nurturing than motherhood?

Yet there are challenges working mothers face every day. They are expected to constantly and vigorously balance amongst professional commitments, kids& family resulting in serious fall outs like, them abandoning their careers and aspirations. A lesser known fact is that a higher percentage loses out in career opportunities, increments, promotions, and growth thus career continuity. Simply put, there is a break in their work-life balance, and choices made by women &mothers impact the continuity of their career and how much they earn.

While more women and mothers are working their way into the managing office and house and trying to mend that “crosspiece”. Women’s career woes are far from solved even in 2021—and most face roadblocks long before they near a corner office.

Some of the below data points are worrisome! It shows that its very unfortunate that uncaging the talents and hidden potential of women’s power is yet to take place in India. Women are withdrawing from the work force in large numbers and today India’s women are less active professionally than women even in our own neighbouring countries forget about the developed countries.

“Despite being a universal crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on women, emerging evidence indicates. Globally, women’s employment is 19% more at risk than men, and the gender poverty gap is expected to worsen well into 2030.

Between March and April 2020, 15.4 million women lost their jobs, or 37% of the female workforce, versus 28% of men. The labour-force shrank by 10.5% for women versus 2% for men between October 2019 and October 2020”

“Three out of four (Approx. 75%) Indian women are neither working nor seeking paid work, putting India among the bottom 10 countries in the world in terms of women’s workforce participation. (The only countries that rank lower than India are Egypt, Morocco, Somalia, Iran, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen) The low LFPR is even more puzzling when one considers that in neighbouring Bangladesh, the country’s GDP grew at an average rate of 5.6 percent between 1991 and 2017, and women’s participation in the labour force increased from 24 percent to 36 percent.”

So if our nation needs to grow , women workforce participation cannot take a nosedive. Even today, majority of Indian women/mothers are often required to prioritize domestic work, particularly if they are married due to the cultural and societal expectations of women as caregivers. Also for women just beginning their careers, the lack of progress made toward parity is extremely discouraging.

We at Inductus are pledged to do our bit to fix that “crosspiece” ensure women employment and the position in their workplace are set up for career growth from the very beginning and we will live up to our commitment to supporting women, mothers, employing them and achieving maximum potential at work.

Inductus’ is committed towards enhancing the women/mother workforce in the organised sector aimingat increasing women’s participation into formal employment, their enhanced participation and fair treatment at the workplace, with an endeavour to look at ways & means to enable today’s organization’s & amp;workforce build a more gender-equal & participatory world.

We aim to try and build an environment that values and encourages women’s/mother’s contributions and make them understand that nothing is off-limits for them. Everything is within their ability and they must get their due!
